Electrical Engineering: The field of electric engineering is a wide and popular profession which is concerned with the design, development, planning and management of the systems and devices that underpin modern economics and contribute to the quantity of life.
It is the branch of the engineering which revolves around electricity and its adherents such as electromagnetism and electronics. It is about harnessing the power of electricity for the purpose of making something work, conversion of mechanical and other forms of energy to electricity as well as designing tools and equipment which work with or electricity and making electricity more efficient and sustainable etc.
These are the sub-disciplines in Electrical Engineering:
Power Engineering: It refers to design, distribution and maintenance of electricity. Generally these types of engineers are preferred by the large companies which have a role in harnessing and distribution of power from the source to many homes as well as offices which are part of grid.
As a power engineer, we have to deal with designing the best plan for making electrical distribution efficient. It also includes devising means in order to prevent or significantly reduce the possibilities of electrical issues such as blackouts and power surges.
Signal Processing: The modem, telephone and television are similar as they all work through signals. As a signal processing engineer, our tasks include detecting, analyzing and modifying or manipulating signals for the purpose of deriving the correct input and output which are depending on the device. These signals can be audio or video or both. We are to work in those industries which revolve around these components.
Computer Engineering: This is the most trending and popular sub-disciplines of electrical engineering due to huge demand, awareness as well as users of computers and other related systems. This field is going through many misconceptions about it such as computer engineers’ only deals with computers. But they also have the duty to other devices which includes gaming consoles.
Telecommunication Engineering: It mainly deals with transmission and transmitting a data such a signal from the source to its receiver and vice-versa. The telecommunication engineers generally considers as signal processing engineers but their work do not include transmission. The role of the telecommunication engineers is to design, improve and make transmission systems more efficient.
Electronics Engineering: It deals with electronic components or circuitry, which form part of the nature of electronics engineering. The role of the electronic engineer is to design, enhance and maintain components of different types of circuit boards.
