Artificial intelligence is the branch of computer science of mechanizing intelligent behaviours which can be achieved by humans. Some applications of AI are power plants,Banking, Heavy Industry, Health care, Games. The three major power plants are thermal power plant, hydro power plant and nuclear power plant.
- Thermal Power Plant: It is a kind of power station which converts heat energy into electric power. Here water is first heated, it then turns into steam and spins a steam turbinewhich drives an electrical generator. After passing through the turbine steam gets condensed with the help of condenser and recycled to where it was heated, this process is known as Rankine cycle.
- Nuclear Power Plant: It is a kind of thermal power station in which nuclear reactor is used as a heat source. Nuclear plants, like plants that burn coal, oil to produce electricity by boiling water into steam. Now this generated steam is responsible to produce electricity by turning the turbines on.
Nuclear power plants do not burn anything to generate electricity instead they perform fission. Generating heat by a physical process is called fission. Commercial nuclear power plants in the are either boiling water reactors or pressurized water reactors.
- Hydro power plant: In hydro power plant we use gravitational force of fluid water to run the turbine which is coupled with electric generator in order to produce electricity. This power plant helps in protecting our fossil fuels.
The pressure of the water released from the reservoirs makes the blades of a turbine spin. Further turbine is been connected to the generation which produces electricity till the turbine spins, water then flows back to the river.
Coal, petroleum, oil, waste incineration plants and many more considered as thermal. In this fuel is burned in furnace to produce heat this process reflects that how chemical energy is converted into heat energy. This heat further changes water into steam this makes the generator to produce the electricity.
Artificial intelligence in power stations: Artificial intelligence has the potential to reduce operator error and increase the safety and reliability of the plant. Moreover there are many number of non- activities in which artificial intelligence help in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the plant.
It furthermore helps in load forecasting,Stability analysis and enhancement, Power system control (voltage control, stability control, power flow control, and load frequency control), Fault diagnosis, reactive power planning and its control.
